Expected Results and Impacts

The project will generate multiple benefits to different players and stakeholders within Pakistan and at the global environmental level.

The project reflects commitment to improve energy use efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy as a pivotal way to meet the climate change challenge. Energy savings will also help the country as a whole by lowering expensive energy imports.

Implementation of EE and fuel substitution will help save money on the energy bill of industrial end users and enhance their economic competitiveness. In addition to economic benefits, energy efficiency measures and the adoption on renewable energy technologies have great potential to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce local and regional air pollution. In the longer run, a better functioning industrial sector will be able to create new jobs or increase payment for current skill-enhanced, jobs.

The project is expected to reduce the carbon emissions by about 2 million ton CO2 over its lifetime of investments beside the other indirect emission reductions related to post project replications.

The project will help the industrial sector through development of policy regulatory framework on RE/EE, capacity development of energy consultants, conducting energy surveys, implementing Energy Management Systems and developing demonstration projects on RE to help build replicable models.
